Doula vs. Midwife

Some people are not familiar with the different roles between a doula and a midwife. A doula provides non medical emotional and physical support and education before, during and after childbirth. A midwife is a medical professional who offers clinical support and care for women during pregnancy including delivery assistance, like an OB doctor. Midwifes and doulas may both provide services in birth centers, hospitals or during home births.
